Dr Rowland Rees
Mr Rowland Rees is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist based at University Hospitals Southampton, and also Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospital. He also works at One Welbeck, London, W1 and Circle Health Sarum Road Hospital in Winchester.
Rowland runs a regional andrology service for the Wessex region, along with an in-reach service at UCLH for penile cancer and penile prosthesis surgery. He qualified in Medicine from the Royal London Hospital in 1995, completed surgical training at St Georges & Royal Marsden Hospitals, higher urological training on the Wessex rotation, and a fellowship in andrological surgery at the Institute of Urology, London.
Rowland has over 20 years’ experience of male genital surgery - covering all aspects including Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, urethral strictures, penile cancers, male fertility and vasectomyreversal, as well as more common conditions such as foreskin problems and scrotal swellings. He performs over 300 such procedures per year, including urethroplasty, penile prostheses, artificial urinary sphincter, urethroplasty, vasectomy reversal, Micro-TESE surgical sperm retrieval, Nesbit andLue procedures.
Rowland was elected Chairman of the British Association of Urological Surgeons section of Andrology and Genito-urethral surgery 2018-2020, and has represented the Wessex region on the NHS England’s Urology commissioning committee.
More recently he has trained and collaborated with Dr Paul Perito from Miami, Florida on the minimially-invasive infra-pubic approach to penile prosthesis surgery, as well as the established protocol for Urofill treatment. Rowland believes that men as well as women should have access to cosmetic treatment options where appropriate and safe to do so. He runs a fully audited practise and regularly publishes his outcomes. He has published over 100 articles in the field of urology and andrology, is a regular speaker and teacher at regional, national and international academic meetings, and serves on the editorial board of academic journals.
